Bought two, one DOA, quick RMA, good service
Plugged the first one in straight out of the box and it was up and running immediately. Web interface is good. Has SMTP alert and timed reporting on RAID which is nice, so it emails me if problems come up and does a detailed status report whenever you schedule it. Overall performance seems good via gigabit network connection. The second unit had a RAID setup error. Called BuffaloTech support and was on with them for no more than twenty minutes (five of which was holding) before it was determined a replacement was needed. Something in the RAID software seemed bad. Their RMA process was painless, but they could not overnight a unit to me--takes 24 hours to process the RMA. All in all, I'm satisfied. DOAs happen. Their tech support was available, professional and competent. I'd buy another as long as these two stay alive for a reasonable time.
