Solidly built, easy to use
I bought this cable to make it easy to recover data from a harddisk drive that had been removed from a PC or other enclosure. Both the power supply portion of this product and the cable portions of the product are sturdy with good connectors. Connecting the harddrive to your PC is as easy as plugging the IDE or SATA signal connectors onto your disk drive and also plugging in the power connector if it's a SATA or 3.5" IDE drive (a 2.5" IDE drive is powered directly by the IDE signal connector). Then just plug the USB end of the cable into your PC. If the drive has data on it you can immediately access the data via Windows Explorer if you're running WinXP or Vista. (It also supports Mac OS X and Win2000 and new drives that haven't yet been initialized.) Previously before I bought this cable, I had a 3.5" IDE drive go bad inside a USB enclosure, and upgraded a 2.5" IDE drive (inside a laptop) and 3.5" IDE drive (inside a 1-drive desktop PC). In those cases, it required a very awkward procedure to move the contents of the original drive to the new drive. After receiving this product, I tried the old drives and they connected perfectly with full access to the data.
