Review [Nacho] For such a simple formula comedy, Nacho Libre is one hell of a weird movie. It is also very funny...Napoleon Dynamite creator Jared Hess' collaboration with Jack Black and co-writer/producer Mike White is the sum of its parts, copping the look and feel of a Santo-style '60s Mexican wrestling picture, injecting it with Hess' singular touch (arch dialogue, exaggerated accents, deadpan stares, fleeting surrealism) and letting loose Black -- a master of controlled chaos -- for the physical flourishes and mock gravitas. Where this takes them, and us, exists nowhere else outside of Nacho Libre's universe.

Review [Orange] "Orange County" is an almost successful comedy. There are laugh-out-loud moments and some well-observed satire, but when the movie tries to get serious, it collapses. In the end, it tries to offer a grand lesson about life and art that's not only specious and hollow but also amounts to very bad advice...Hanks makes an acceptable leading man, and Fisk has a charming sincerity, but this time out, the grown-ups steal the show. O'Hara, who is always interesting, particularly shines as Shaun's frazzled, self-pitying, wine- swilling mother.

Review [School] Jack Black is a living, breathing, sweating advertisement for the transformative power of rock 'n' roll, in "School of Rock," the first kid movie that parents will like more than their children. He plays Dewey Finn, failed rocker, just kicked out of the band he founded. Rock is his life. When he fakes his way into a job as a substitute fifth-grade teacher, he ignores the lesson plans and turns the class into a rock band; when the kids ask about tests, he promises them rock "will test your head, and your mind, and your brain, too"...The big payoff is the Battle of the Bands, and inevitably all of the angry parents are in the front row, but the movie stays true, if not to its school, at least to rock 'n' roll, and you have a goofy smile most of the time.

Quotes
Andrew Johnston, US Weekly [Orange] A treat. A comedy with an equal share of wit and heart.
Ann Hornaday, Washington Post [School] An exuberant, raucous and thoroughly endearing comedy.
David Ansen, NewsWeek [School] It's a bravura, all-stops-out, inexhaustibly inventive performance.
Joe Leydon, Variety [Nacho] ...strikes a delicate balance of whimsy and absurdity...
Manohla Dargis, The New York Times [Nacho] Endearingly ridiculous.
Peter Travers, Rolling Stone [Orange] Fun at full tilt!
