Reviews of the previous model generally liked it, but said the coin-cell battery was annoying and the receiver could get stuck if inserted incorrectly. Well, this version uses AAA batteries (included), and the receiver can go in either way (rotated 180 degrees) without issue. Plus, this one is black, and, honestly, that's a lot better than the old version's white (no need to draw attention to your remote while you're giving a talk).

Overall, it's great. The rubberized grip feels great, the laser works, the buttons have a solid tactile feedback, the range is good, and it's *simple*.

It is a lot thicker than I thought it was (none of the pictures show the thickness). So it fits in my hand nicely, but it doesn't slip into a pocket as easily as I'd like.

For those who care - it operates by emulating a keyboard. The forward/backward buttons map to Pagedown/Pageup, and the "stop" button (the bottom button) maps to "b" to blank the screen in Powerpoint. No means of changing these is provided.
