Wonderful new "science fiction of the mind&qu
I saw "Jerome Bixby's The Man From Earth" at a festival this summer and loved it. The movie reminds me of the golden age of science fiction when ideas and imagination were more important than goo-dripping aliens or fireball explosions. Like "Twelve Angry Men", this film is not limited by its singular location; to the contrary -- as in that classic film, the intense emotions are only heightened by the semi-claustrophobic conditions. The script is by a master of the craft, and the actors all rise to the challenge. The directing is understated in a manner rarely seen today. If you can possibly see this on a big screen, you owe it to yourself to try. Days later I couldn't stop thinking (or talking) about it!
