WONDERFUL

by policyking99 on 11/29/2007

I love Monk, and had never seen Psych, but it came highly recomended from a friend. I am very glad I got them both. If you like one show, you will like the other. They are wonderful and my wife and I enjoy watching them after a long day when we need to relax and enjoy a funny and witty show. They will make you laugh and if you like to play along and try to solve the murder, they will get you thinking. They are good shows the whole family can enjoy.

Product Overview

Search out the clues to solve the cases in this collection of off-the-wall detective shows. In MONK: SEASON FIVE, follow Tony Shalhoub in his obsessive hunt for the truth. In PSYCH: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON, join James Roday and Dule Hill on their hilarious misadventures of detective deception!

MONK - SEASON FIVE: It's time to tidy up for another season with Primetime Emmy Award and Golden Globe winner Tony Shalhoub in all 16 SEASON FIVE episodes of MONK, television's most fresh and funny series. Gumshoe Adrian Monk would never actually have gum on his well-polished shoes: in addition to intellect and instinct, he also has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Though his eccentric traits bewilder his colleagues Natalie Teeger (Traylor Howard), Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) and Lieutenant Disher (Jason Gray-Stanford), Monk's attention to detail keeps crime - and grime - off the streets. Included in this highly collectible, 4-disc set are both the black & white and color versions of the noir-style episode "Mr. Monk and the Leper," obsessively good bonus features and the pilot episode of the hit comedy-drama PSYCH. Follow the clues to SEASON FIVE of MONK, the quirky and original show TV Guide hails as "alternatively hilarious and touching."

PSYCH - THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON: Fake psychic Shawn Spencer (James Roday) and his skeptical best friend Gus (Dule Hill) are on the case in the fresh and quirky runaway hit PSYCH! Relive every quick-witted remark and hilarious misadventure in all 15 Season One episodes, including both the domestic and international versions of the series pilot! Thanks to a childhood spent with a family of cops, Shawn possesses an incredible photographic memory and notices seemingly insignificant details. These traits allow him to spend his jobless days providing the police with mystery-solving tips - but his knowledge soon makes him a suspect. In order to clear his name, the unlikely sleuth declares that he has clairvoyant abilities and launches his own investigative agency, PSYCH. Exclusive bonus features in this must-own 4-disc set include a behind-the-scenes featurette, insightful character profiles and deleted scenes. Return to the scene of the crime with PSYCH, the phenomenon that the New York Post awards 4 stars and declares "just terrific."

ReviewSource DVD Verdict
Review [Psych] The perfect chaser to the well-established Monk, the show takes the buddy concept, mixes in equal parts smart writing and authentic character acting, and serves it up in an impressive glass of detective work...The trick to a successful run is going to be the writing. Balancing on the head of a pin, always this close to being unmasked, Shawn and Gus are not charlatans or con men. They're merely keeping up their unfortunate ruse to stay out of trouble and solve real crimes utilizing their true talents and experiences. Franks and his team will have to be vigilant in providing audiences with cases they haven't seen before and avoid repeating themselves with similar plotlines. If the pilot is any indication, it shouldn't be a problem...On the downside, there will be inevitable comparisons to Monk and they're justified. Both shows do have similar looks, feels, and ensemble tones, but there are enough differences to make the series pairing an exceptional block of programming.
