Stranger redeems the Oddworld franchise
I've played all of the PS1 Oddworld games. I first fell in love with the Oddysee and Exodus, as the unique 2d scroller incorporated so many stimulating and challenging puzzles as well as keeping the humor level stable and fresh. Munch's Oddysee was, in my opinion, stankass. Horrible game on a good console. No fun whatsoever. I bought it after I first got my Xbox (and Halo, of course), and was extremely dismayed with its tired controls and gameplay. When I heard that Stranger was coming out, and later saw some clips of the unfinished product, I was hopeful. After obsessing over getting this game after it came out I can honestly say that it reclaims the former Oddworld glory from the days of Abe. The shooter elements are crafted into a sweet platforming game, the graphics and landscapes are gorgeous, and the characters are fresh new, and retain the familiar and twisted Oddworld perspective. I highly recommend this as a buy, if not at least a rental.
