a classic!! A modern classic thriller!! David Finc
I first saw it on TV about a year or two back. It feels different every time you watch it. But the gruesome-ness gets worse everytime. The DVD (menus, design) is gruesomely decorated...kudos to David Fincher. I have to say this is Fincher's best film yet. Everyone gives a more than prefect performance. You have your extras and then some. You get to look at John Doe's note book,in close up...hehehe...freaky,no...gruesome!! Its quite disturbing because some of them are actual crime scene photoes. 4 commentary tracks...I'm a commentary nut. Pitt, Freeman and Fincher is in one of the tracks. Other pruduction stills and storyboards. More John Doe pictures...(urg!). This (DVD) is definatly NOT for the light hearted. Even the packaging is gruesome (if you have a 7 year old...hide this...it would freak them out. Because the actual thing that holds the DvD look like a notebook, a 7 year old mihgt open it by mistake and see some freaky pictures). This DVD is an example of what DVDs shoud be, everything is so unique...it has a Se7en-esque feel to it. The video quality is extreme, I dont hink I have ever seen such a great transfer from theater to DvD. In fact it looks exactly like you would see in the big screen. Anyways great movie, great extras you probably want see see a second time (if you dare). Commentaries here really explains some the things in the film, and entertianing. But the John Doe stuff is...VERY disturbing... A must have!!
