Another Solid Entry in the Parker Series
The Green Eagle Score is another solid entry in the Parker series. The story starts out with Parker on vacation in Puerto Rico. An old associate tracks him down and makes a pitch for a caper. Parker leaves to check it out, leaving Claire, his girlfriend, in Puerto Rico. The novel follows the standard Parker plot. Scope out the target, plan the heist, commit it, and deal with anything that goes wrong. There is some minor variation in each novel but this is the basic plot for most of the novels. Something does go wrong but it is handled with some minor difficulty. Parker is good at adopting to situations as they arise. Parker deals with the crinkle in his plans, over comes it and moves on with his life, returning to Puerto Rico. If you are familiar with Parker novels you will like the book. If a reader has never read any of the Parker novels, this would be a good starting point. A list of the novels in order can be found at http://violentworldofparker.com/?page_id=27, in case some feels the need to read them in order. I have enjoyed all the Parker novels I have read to date. Parker is not someone I would want to encounter in real life. Meeting him in a novel is safer and thought provoking. All the Parker novels are short, filled with action, fun to read, and you cannot help rooting for Parker despite the fact he is not a “nice” person. I read mostly science fiction with a few thrillers and mysteries tossed in. I think the Parker novels would appeal to many types of readers.
