Review Perhaps the least eagerly anticipated sequel since Mannequin 2, Van Wilder 2: The Rise of Taj is a marked improvement over its predecessor...it's not remotely in the same league as Animal House or Vacation, but it's Citizen Kane compared to straight-to-video fare like Dorm Daze...The movie is shockingly prudish for what is ostensibly a sex comedy. The genre has become so conservative in the years since Animal House that the only character allowed to reach orgasm is the title character's dog, and the scenes in which the college kids cut loose are awfully tame. The aforementioned Harold and Kumar had a far more anarchic spirit, and it incorporated some social satire into its slapstick to boot. Van Wilder 2, on the other hand, is never less inspired than when it's trying too hard to be naughty, a flaw it shares with its prequel.

Quotes
Brian Orndorf, DVD Talk ...a better film than "Van Wilder"...
Scott Tobias, The Onion A.V. Club ...one of the few sequels that's superior to the original.
