Excellent coverage of UI development on .NET 2
Windows Forms in Action covers the development of a full featured photograph management application using .NET 2 Forms. Each phase is provided step by step for writing the application in Visual Studio. The steps are conveniently illustrated in a table format that teach you to use the IDE and Windows Forms. More importantly, the author provides reasonable guidance on application design decisions (for example, segregating functionality to libraries, separating UI from data and explaining justification for using layout controls). I highly recommend this book for the entry level developer getting started with Windows Forms before jumping into a book that provides deeper discussion but less "How do I do it" information (Sells and Weinhardt). The author supports a forum on the publisher's web site that is helpful for errata and general discussion. WARNING: If you are using .NET Framework with another IDE/editor, you will have to refer to the source code from the website since the step by step instructions are Visual Studio specific. Also, some C# knowledge is assumed (basic syntax and language constructs).
