Previously, the GT-2000 had two different uppers: engineered mesh and knit. The new version combines the best features of each with its new engineered knit upper. It delivers the look and feel of knit, with the fit, structure and function of engineered mesh. It offers a more secure and comfortable fit, wrapping around the foot like a second skin. The engineered knit modernizes the visual appearance of the shoe and softens the experience, while maintaining the durability and performance of previous versions. ASICS added 2mm of their FLYTEFOAM® Propel cushioning under the forefoot and added an additional flex groove on the bottom insole for a softer, bouncier experience. This changed the shoe to an 8mm heel-to-toe offset. The change in offset combined with the new full ground contact on the outsole translates into a smoother, more efficient ride. The combination of Flytefoam® Propel, Flytefoam® and gel make this shoe lightweight, plush and comfortable.
