E-Gift Cards FAQs

Are e-gift cards purchased from Rakuten refundable? 

Once you purchase an e-gift card, it cannot be returned.

What happens if my order didn't go through?

You may see a pending charge on your credit card statement. Don't worry, this will be reversed within 3-5 business days and your credit card will not be charged. For help with pending charges, reach out to the credit card company you used for your order.

How are e-gift cards delivered?

We’ll send you an order confirmation email with a link to the e-gift card details. There you will find the full e-gift card number and PIN for making purchases online, and the barcode for purchasing in stores. The e-gift card details page will also have more instructions for use.

If you don’t see the order confirmation email in your inbox, please check your spam folder. If you’re still having trouble, you can contact Member Services and provide either the Shopping Trip Number (go to My Account, then Shopping Trips) or the Order Number (go to My Account, then Cash Back Balance).

How long do e-gift card deliveries take?

In most cases, e-gift cards will be delivered to your email within a few minutes of purchasing. Check your spam folder if you do not see a redemption email in your inbox shortly after purchase. In rare cases, delivery can take up to 48 hours, but we promise to let you know.

Do e-gift cards expire or have any fees?

Rakuten does not charge any fees for purchasing e-gift cards. Most e-gift cards do not have expiration dates, but that may vary by store. We recommend referring to the terms and conditions set by the store, available on the e-gift card details page. You can find a link to the details page in your order confirmation email.

Where can e-gift cards be used?

Most e-gift cards can be used at the store’s retail locations and online at the store’s website. E-gift card redemption methods may vary, so please refer to the terms and conditions set by the store, available on the e-gift card details page. You can find a link to the details page in your order confirmation email.

What forms of payment are accepted?

We accept Visa, American Express and Mastercard credit cards registered to billing addresses in the United States. If you’re using a card that has been added to your Rakuten account and enabled for In-Store Cash Back, you may be prompted to update your billing details.

How will my e-gift card purchase be processed?

Credit card payments are processed by one of the largest global gift card providers through its secure, encrypted system. Your e-gift card purchase will appear as “CS *RAKUTEN.COM GFTCD” on your credit card statement.
