The Rakuten Welcome Bonus & New Member FAQs

How do I get my Welcome Bonus?
We’ll send your Welcome Bonus after you complete these 3 steps:
1. Sign up for a new account.
2. Shop through Rakuten to make a qualifying purchase of at least $25 within 90 days of becoming a member.
Heads up, sometimes it takes some time for stores to confirm your purchase with us. You can always check the status in your Cash Back Balance.
3. Choose how you want to get paid in Account Settings.
Important! Make sure you have your mailing address on file. For security reasons, we need your address to pay you (to make sure it’s actually you).
After you complete all 3 steps, we’ll send your Welcome Bonus. You’ll also get an email letting you know your money is on its way via the payment method you selected.

How does Rakuten work?
We make it super easy to get Cash Back on stuff you were going to buy anyway.
Shop at your favorite stores. We have more than 3,500 to choose from, including ride-sharing apps, restaurants, travel sites and subscriptions.
Get paid! After you get your Welcome Bonus, we’ll put you on our quarterly payment schedule. That means you’ll get your Cash Back payment every 3 months in February, May, August and November, as long as your Cash Back Balance is at least $5.
Heads up! It can take some time for a store to confirm your purchase with us. And for Travel, you’ll earn Cash Back after the trip is completed. For specific timing info, go to the store page on Rakuten.com and look for Posting Time under Cash Back Terms.
How does Rakuten make money?
We know, it seems too good to be true. Here’s the deal: Stores pay us a commission for sending you their way. We share that commission with you as Cash Back. Everyone wins!
